HORMONE HEALTH AS YOU AGE

What changes—and why it matters.

Testosterone helps maintain sexual function, muscle mass, bone density, and red blood cell production.

Testosterone levels can decline gradually with age, but the degree varies considerably between men. Sleep, body composition, certain medications, and underlying medical conditions can also influence hormone levels.

A change in how you feel is worth investigating. Understanding the cause is the first step toward choosing appropriate care.

RECOGNIZING THE SIGNS

Could hormones be part of the picture?

Symptoms that may warrant evaluation include:

  • Reduced sex drive
  • Fewer spontaneous or morning erections
  • Persistent fatigue or reduced energy
  • Loss of muscle mass or strength
  • Changes in mood or motivation

These changes can have several causes. A health evaluation helps determine whether testosterone deficiency, another health issue, or a combination of factors is contributing.

A MORE COMPLETE EVALUATION

Your symptoms and your labs belong in the same conversation.

Your evaluation begins with what you’re experiencing, your health history, medications, and goals—including any plans for future fertility.

Testing includes testosterone measurements, as well as free testosterone, SHBG, and additional markers to help clarify the picture.

Our medical team takes a functional, individualized approach to hormone health. Lab results help guide decisions alongside your symptoms, potential contributing factors, and overall health.

UNDERSTANDING TRT

What is testosterone replacement therapy?

TRT supplements testosterone when the body is not producing enough and treatment is medically appropriate.

Bioidentical testosterone has the same molecular structure as the testosterone your body produces. Depending on your needs and the medical team’s assessment, treatment may involve injections or topical preparations.

For men with confirmed testosterone deficiency, treatment may improve sexual desire and help support muscle mass and bone density. Changes in energy, mood, and strength vary between individuals. Your medical provider determines the formulation, dose, and follow-up plan based on your individual circumstances and response.

ONGOING MEDICAL OVERSIGHT

Treatment includes follow-up.

Your response to treatment matters. Follow-up considers symptom changes, hormone levels, side effects, and relevant health markers.

Testosterone therapy can increase hematocrit—the proportion of your blood made up of red blood cells—and may raise blood pressure. It can also suppress sperm production, making fertility plans an important part of the conversation before treatment begins.

The licensed medical team directs monitoring and any treatment adjustments.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

A clearer
starting point.

Is HRT for men the same as TRT?

TRT is a form of hormone replacement therapy specifically focused on testosterone. Other hormonal concerns may warrant evaluation, but additional treatment is based on individual medical findings.

Does a “normal” testosterone result mean hormones aren’t contributing to my symptoms?

A “normal” or “normal for your age” result based on a lab reference range does not mean that your testosterone is at a functional or optimal level for you. Arena takes an individualized approach to helping you optimize your health and performance. Your provider considers the timing and reliability of testing, your symptoms, and other possible causes before recommending next steps.

Does everyone with declining testosterone need treatment?

Age-related changes alone do not determine whether TRT is appropriate. Evaluation considers symptoms, confirmed lab findings, contributing conditions, and the potential benefits and risks of treatment.

Can I use TRT if I want children?

Testosterone therapy can suppress sperm production. Tell the medical team about your fertility plans before starting treatment so appropriate options can be discussed.

Are lab tests and medications included in the program fee?

No. Lab testing and medications are billed separately. The Arena team can explain testing options and costs before you proceed.

Who prescribes and manages treatment?

The licensed medical team determines whether treatment is appropriate and manages prescriptions, dosing, and medical monitoring.
